The Brute is the most straightforward hero. Whenever you play this hero, your strategy is simple: Move to the nearest hero, strike him hard and then move to the next one!

1. Deck Overview

2. Positioning

The Brute likes to start the game in the middle as much as possible.

When you first position your heroes, it is usually a good idea to place The Brute in cases C2 or D2.

You want it to be as close as the action as possible.

3. Opening Hand

Whenever you start, your first hand will likely be composed of 1 movement action card, 1-2 trick cards and 2-3 combat action cards.

You must have at least one or two good combat cards before you want to get into the melee. If you don’t have any combat card, it might be wise to consider positioning yourself on a safe place and opting for a rest.

You don’t need to rush in the fight all the time.

If you start with an Aura Card, such as THOUGHTS OF DESTRUCTION, it is usually a good plan to play it on your first turn.

You normally want to apply well dosed pressure on the first turn. Even if they have less impact, it is usually a better choice to opt for cards like STUN and DISMEMBER on the first turn. Big attacks will have less impact on opponents at higher Endurance.

4. Victory Conditions

  • Always try to get more cards. Playing THOUGHTS OF DESTRUCTION early is a must do.
  • Most of the time you want to focus on attack. You don’t want to defend much. You will not care much about Poisons or Bleeding Counters. It’s okay to take hits, yours will likely be better.
  • Use smaller attacks early.
  • Whenever you get an opportunity, it’s very good to go for a Refresh attack and than a big hit. Most of the time, opponents won’t be able to withstand 2 consecutives attacks.
  • You can try to use other allies to contain opponents nearby.

5. Upgrading your deck

If you want to upgrade this deck, you might want to consider the following options:

  • DESTRUCTIVE SLASH – This card is probably your best “Win the game” option.
  • BERSERKER – When played early, this card puts more pressure than the opponent can handle.
  • DESPAIR’S HIT – You must be very careful when you play this card, but it will do what needs to be done.
